The main function of the middle ear is to carry sound waves from the outer ear to the inner ear, which contains the cochlea and where sound input can be communicated to the brain. Sound waves are funneled into the outer ear and strike the tympanic membrane, causing it to vibrate. WebThe function of the ear is to transmit and transduce sound to the brain through the parts of the ear: the outer ear, the middle ear and the inner ear. But what other sensory functions do the ears provide? The major task function of the ear is of course to detect, transmit and transduce sound. However, that is not its only function.
